Make Space for Self-Care

Sometimes stress can feel out of this world. You always feel amped up. Your engines are revving all the time. Self-care is one way of helping find ways to reduce stress or help tolerate difficulties that present in everyday life. Self-care is a daily practice and promise to yourself to make time to meet your needs. It is personal and ever changing, which in and of itself can feel overwhelming. This newsletter provides a simple explanation of self-care and some ideas of different ways we may incorporate self-care in our lives. After reviewing this newsletter, take time to thing about you can make space for self-care. 

Self-care is about meeting your physical, emotional, and social needs.  These needs are unique and ever-changing from person to person.

Physical

  • Get enough sleep.
  • Move in ways that feel nice.
  • Drink water.
  • Eat food.

Emotional

  • Say yes to your needs.
  • Show yourself compassion.
  • Watch a feel good movie or show.

Social

  • Visit friends.
  • Take alone time to recharge.
  • Ask for help.
  • Take a social media break.

Self-Care Ideas

  • Have a snack.
  • Make a journal entry.
  • Listen to music.
  • Talk to a friend.
  • Connect with nature.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Have fun dancing.
  • Take a nap.
  • Keep a boundary.
  • Curate social media.
