Welcome to SHHS CTE Career Counseling

Our belief is that students that have created a career plan maintain a more positive attitude and self image which enables them to be more productive both in the classroom and in their personal lives. We hope to have the opportunity to help you identify your options and get you started on the path that best suits you!

The SHHS Career Counseling Center is available to assist students in all aspects of their career. Students can take advantage of services such as:

  • Identifying career options

  • Help with your resume, interviewing skills, and job searching

  • Dual Enrollment opportunities at TCAT, NE State, and other colleges

  • Internships in the area

  • And more!

When identifying a career, a good place to begin is taking your MajorClarity career assessment. This is FREE and can be located in your Single Sign On (SSO) portal. Once logged in to MajorClarity, click on “Assessments” and take the 48 question assessment. Then click on “Career Exploration” to find your results. The higher the “Fit Score”, the more that career fits your responses.

We also recommend that students sign up to take the ASVAB. The ASVAB is a wonderful career assessment developed by the US Military that helps students identify abilities AND interests in order to identify career options. This is an extensive career assessment and in no way obligates students to any type of military career or endeavor. After the exam, the SHHS Career counseling office will review the results with the student and assist the students in developing a plan to pursue their goals. This is a free exam and more information will be shared in the coming months.

Another great option is to take the Myers-Briggs personality test at: https://www.humanmetrics.com/personality/test When a student combines their personality type along with their skill set, they have the tools needed to make better career decisions.
