Reminders and Upcoming Deadlines

  • Online Summer Classes: Reminder for students in grades 9-11: The deadline to register for an online summer class is May 1st. You must submit the registration form with payment to the Registrar’s office by the deadline to be officially enrolled. See your counselor with any questions.
  • Summer School 2024: It’s not too late to sign up for Summer School! Students have the option to take Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, English 1 and 2, Biology, Chemistry, World History, Spanish 1 and 2, and Credit Recovery. Summer school starts on May 29 and ends June 26th. If you’re interested, see your counselor to sign up before the deadline on May 17th!
  • Workkeys Exam for Seniors: The deadline to register for the Workkeys Exam is April 26! Just as the ACT score indicates college readiness, the WorkKeys tests the students’ career readiness and is a reliable predictor for workplace success. An increasing number of employers are beginning to acknowledge or require WorkKeys scores as a part of the application and promotion process. The exam will be held on the morning of May 1st (location TBD) and will last approximately 2.5 hours. To register for the exam, complete check your class of 2024 canvas page for the link and QR code.

Class of 2024 Senior Meeting

The Class of 2024 Senior Meeting will be held on April 30 at 9:30 in the auditorium.  Seniors will vote for the graduation speaker and hear some important information regarding the last few weeks of school.

Last week of the Reading Challenge!

We have one week left in the Reading Challenge. We’ve reached 90,000 minutes. Can we make it to 100,000? Don’t forget to log your minutes in Beanstack for a chance to win prizes.

Fill-the-Bag Campaign

The deadline for our Fill-the-Bag campaign is fast approaching! Remember to bring in food items to donate! Beta Club members will be coming around after school on Thursday to collect the bags. Let's all do our part to help our community members in need!

Northeast State Finish the FAFSA

Seniors, Northeast State is holding a Finish the FAFSA event at their Technical Education Complex on Tuesday, April 23rd from 9am to 8pm. There will be staff there to help you complete your FAFSA, as well as Spanish language services available. You do not have to be enrolling at Northeast State to attend. See Holly in the Locker with any questions.

Cross Country Interest Meeting

There will be a brief interest meeting after school for anyone interested in running cross country next year on Tuesday, April 23rd at 2:45 pm in the New Gym. See Coach McElroy in A279 for more questions.

It's time for Prom!

IT IS PROM TIME at SCIENCE HILL! Join us on the red carpet for A Night at the Met and enjoy roaming through various museum exhibits on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Tickets are on sale through April 26, 2024, for $25 per person; beginning Saturday, April 27, 2024 through Thursday, May 2 ticket costs will be $30 per ticket. Tickets can ONLY be purchased through the GoFan app. When purchasing, use your school ID as the access code - IT CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Junior and senior Science Hill students may purchase 2 tickets - one for you and a guest. The guest you purchase a ticket for MUST arrive with you at prom. Additionally, if your guest is NOT a student at Science Hill you must complete a guest form and return it with the guest's school administrator's signature. This must be completed before purchasing your tickets. Guest forms may be picked up and returned to the main office.

Spring Gala

It's time to tune your guitar, clear your throat, and dust off your dancing shoes! Once again, the choir will be hosting Spring Gala on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00. If you'd like to participate, stop by the choir room so that we can include you. We welcome all school-appropriate acts !!!

Summer 2025 Trip to the British Isles

Have you ever wanted to visit Ireland, Scotland, and England? Well, the luck of the Irish is with you! Ms. Stiltner and Dr. White are leading a tour to Capitals of the British Isles during Summer 2025. There will be an informational meeting for students and families next week, Thursday 4/25 at 6:30 pm in Dr. White’s room, 405A. Look for the RSVP QR code on the posters and flyers around the school. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Jazz Ensemble Rehearsals

Attention Jazz Ensemble participants! This is notification that we have two additional rehearsals this week. We will have rehearsal afterschool on Wednesday and Thursday of this week in addition to our regular Friday practice from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Also, please bring $15 cash or checks payable to Science Hill Band Boosters by the band room before Friday for your Jazz Ensemble T-shirt. Thank you!

Last Science Hill Book Club Meeting

The Science Hill Book Club will have the last meeting of the year today after school in Coach Price's room, room 515. Note the location change. We will be discussing Lessons in Chemistry and making tentative plans for next year. All students are welcome to attend, but you must have a signed permission form. Please see Mrs. Reaves on Counselor Row for a form. Hope to see everyone there!

Topper Team & Club Congratulations

  • The choral department would like to congratulate Riley Brooks for his recent participation in All-State Choir in Nashville. We would also like to recognize the Science Hill choirs for their outstanding performance in Gatlinburg this past weekend. In a competition which included choirs from 8 states, our Renaissance Choir received First Place, our Jazz Choir received First Place, and our Women's Choir received Second Place. If YOU sing and are serious about quality performance, we invite you to join us!

  • Beauty & Fashion Club will meet Thursday in room 903 in the CTE building from 3-3:30P.

  • Social Wise Club will meet Friday in room 509 afterschool.

Student IDs

Reminder that ALL students should be wearing their student IDs where they are visible (not tucked in clothing or bags). If you need a temporary ID, please ask your first period teacher.

Summer Community Service

The Summer Community Service Team is being offered again this June at Science Hill. Last year’s team built the outdoor lunch area in Grand Topper Hall, and we have big plans for this summer.

  • Class of 2024: you can earn your required TN Promise hours in just one week of work.
  • Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027: you can earn all 40 hours required for graduation.

Senior Announcements

  • Seniors – If you have not picked up your cap/gown/graduation announcements and supplies from Jostens, please come by the main office to pick up your order if it is paid in full.

Dangers of Vaping Seminar for Parents and Teachers

This school year, youth vaping is as big an issue as ever, especially given growing mental health challenges the youth. Behind the bright colors and sweet flavors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction. Join the seminar to learn the essentials for helping kids avoid or quit vaping on Tuesday May 14 at 6P on Zoom. See the flyer linked HERE for sign up details.
